Hey there DUDE,

There is an honor system in kiting. Probably has something to do with the fact that when we're all on the water, we trust each other....often at times with our lives. Someone gets hurt, looses a board or snaps a line, you can always count on those with honor to help you.

You asked me about a used board a few days ago, and now another shop is involved. Your first price was $250, then $350 and now you are looking at new boards. I think from you're perspective, what you are hoping to do is induce a bidding war, between two shops, in order to secure your business. But for me, this is not how it works. I respect the shop you've contacted, one day I hope to ride with them, and I for one would never stoop so low to create a price that steals business from a trusted shop.

Ever wonder why there are so few kite shops in the USA? Its because the market is small. But more importantly, while there are few shops ( and less and less each day as they close ) there is more demand in the market. From consumers. The kind of consumers who can invest countless hours researching items for free (whether by phone or by email or by forums), and more importantly the kinds of consumers who will do just about everything they can in order to secure the lowest price possible. So what ends up happening is the consumers get great prices and the shops get to sell gear at their wholesale level, often not making any money at all.

So I am part of the solution, not a part of the problem. I do not have a counter offer and I am no longer interested in selling you this board. I think the shop you've contacted has a great price, you should buy from them and get out on the water and enjoy yourself.
